BACKGROUND

Scott is head of K3 Tax Advisory’s employer solutions team and an employment tax specialist advising on both UK domestic and international employment tax matters, UK national insurance and national minimum wage. He also specialises in advising on the construction industry scheme (CIS) and both the onshore and offshore intermediaries (agencies) legislation.

With over 15 years experience advising employers and their employees across a spectrum of circumstances, from newly established to large multi-national employers; Scott’s range of experience includes assisting employers implementing new employment policies, support through HMRC compliance checks and advising and addressing employment tax related issues arising from due diligence.

He seeks to use his experience and knowledge to help his clients make sense and address the technicalities within employment tax, with as little impact on them and their employees as possible. With considerable experience managing HMRC enquiries and addressing employment tax issues arising from due diligence, he strives to give clear guidance to his clients in these highly emotive and stressful situations, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes.

Scott has spent time working in professional practice with a mid-tier firm of accountants before moving in-house to work for Subsea 7 as an employment tax manager responsible for the global employment tax obligations of their 10,000 globally mobile employees and sub-contractors. Before joining K3TA, Scott moved back into professional practice with a top 20 accountancy firm, spending 7 years working as a senior tax manager and latterly a tax director leading the firm’s employment tax offering.

Outside of K3TA, Scott is the third generation of a family of builders and runs his own property company, giving him a unique practical insight to the CIS issues facing his construction clients.
